In addition to the base series, the J30J series of connectors includes a wide range of derivative series capable of meeting the requirements of various applications in the market. These Micro-D rectangular connectors are built to the same GJB2446A / MIL-DTL-83513 Micro-D footprint, but engineered for very different jobs. The metal-shell standard J30J is only the starting point: the family spans lightweight plastic, quick-lock, high-speed shielded and 10 Gbps differential, mixed power-plus-signal, miniature, rain-proof, and RF-mixed variants. Mixing them up leads to the wrong current rating, the wrong signal integrity, or an oversized bill of materials. This guide walks the full J30J family tree and ends with a nine-question flow you can use to pick the right one.
All members share the same harsh-environment envelope — -55 °C to +125 °C, 500 mating cycles, 800 V dielectric withstand, and 3 A per signal contact — and diverge on shell material, locking style, contact pitch, current capacity, and what kind of signal they carry. The table below is the quick map; each row gets its own section below.

Standard J30J — The General-Purpose Baseline
The metal-shell workhorse of the family and the direct Chinese equivalent of the MIL-DTL-83513 Micro-D (Glenair MWDM / ITT MDM), so it drops into designs originally specced against the US standard. It uses twist-pin contacts on a 1.27 × 1.1 mm grid, carries 3 A per contact, and scales from 9 to 100 positions (high-density catalogs reach 144). Pick it when you need a proven, general-purpose signal interconnect and may later want non-magnetic, sealed, or filtered variants from the same outline. For the full J30J Micro-D landscape and file downloads, see our J30J Micro-D Connectors, and for the underlying specs our guide to Chinese rectangular connector standards (GJB).
J30JV2 (J30V2) — Lightweight Plastic, Fixed Lock
Keeps the same 1.27 × 1.1 mm contact grid and 3 A rating, but swaps the metal shell for a PPS plastic body with a fixed (non-removable) locking assembly. The result is lighter and cheaper, with a smaller 9–51 position range. It is the right call when weight and cost matter more than full metal-shell ruggedness — weight-sensitive modules, high-volume builds, or enclosures already environmentally protected. It is not a drop-in for a metal-shell J30J if your spec demands shielding or the widest pin counts.
J30JA — Quick-Lock Variant
Same J30J outline and 3 A rating, but adds a quick-lock (fast-insertion) coupling and often a built-in shield-cable clamp and braid. Contact counts run 9–100 (some catalogs to 144). Choose it when field assembly speed or frequent mating matters, or when you need the shielded-cable option, while still keeping the standard Micro-D signal footprint. It intermates with standard J30J / MDM boards.
HJ30J — High-Speed Shielded (up to 1.65 Gbps)
Where the family turns to high-speed signaling. A metal shield shell on a symmetric 1.27 × 1.27 mm grid holds characteristic impedance at 100 ± 15 Ω and sustains a 1.65 Gbps data rate (up to 3.125 Gbps board-to-board) with near-end crosstalk better than 30 dB within 100 ps. Rated 3 A per contact across 7 shell sizes (12 / 18 / 24 / 30 / 36 / 55 / 100 positions). Built for differential pairs, LVDS, and other controlled-impedance links inside chassis and cabinets. Choose it when signal integrity — not just pin count — is the constraint.
KJ30J — 10 Gbps Differential
The faster sibling of HJ30J. A single differential channel reaches 10 Gbps, characteristic impedance 100 ± 10 Ω, insertion loss below 3 dB at 5 GHz, and near-/far-end crosstalk below −30 dB at 5 GHz. Rated 3 A, with screw- or bayonet-lock and three termination styles (straight / right-angle PCB press-fit, and wire solder), it supports USB 3.0, DisplayPort, DVI, and HDMI over matched cable. Use it when HJ30J’s 1.65 Gbps ceiling is not enough but you still want the Micro-D envelope.
J30J Mixed-Current — Power + Signal in One Shell
Breaks the 3 A ceiling by fitting 20 A power contacts alongside 3 A signal contacts in one metal shell. It offers 19 contact arrangements: nine all-high-current (2 to 10 × 20 A) and ten mixed (for example 7 × 3 A + 2 × 20 A, up to 37 × 3 A + 2 × 20 A). Signal wire is 0.1–0.15 mm², power wire 2.0–3.0 mm². One connector replaces a separate power connector and a signal connector — less space, fewer parts, simpler assembly. It is the natural choice whenever a module needs both control/signal lines and a power feed in a tight envelope. For a deep dive, see our J30J mixed-current connector selection guide, or browse J30J mixed-current (combo micro-d) connector products.
J30JZ — Miniature (about 40% Smaller)
Metal shell, but trimmed: roughly 40% of the standard J30J volume (length −5 mm, width −2.9 mm, height −2 mm) while keeping the 1.27 × 1.1 mm grid, 3 A rating, and 9 / 15 / 21 / 25 / 31 / 37 / 51 / 66 / 74 / 100 positions. It uses low-insertion-force twist-pin contacts for long mechanical life. Choose it when board real estate is the constraint and you still need the Micro-D signal format — dense electronics, handheld, or space-limited modules.
J30JY — Rain-Proof / Sealed
Built on the J30J platform with enhanced environmental sealing for humid or outdoor exposure. Same 1.27 × 1.1 mm grid and 3 A, 9–100 positions, but rated for humidity up to 98% at +40 °C, salt spray 96 h, and it passes GJB 150.8 rain and drip tests with no visible water inside the mated cavity afterward. For pneumatic/electrical systems whose connectors sit exposed to weather — outdoor sensors, field equipment, vehicle- or mast-mounted gear.
J30J RF Mixed — RF + Signal in One Shell
Combines RF (coaxial) contacts with standard 3 A signal contacts in a single J30J outline, so a control harness and an RF feed share one connector and one panel cutout. Use it where a module needs both high-frequency lines (antenna, sensor, or transceiver) and low-speed control/signal without running two separate connectors. It keeps the same Micro-D mounting and pin-density advantages while consolidating the interconnect.
How to Choose: A 9-Question Flow
Walk these nine questions in order; the first branch that matches your design points to the series.
Beyond these, the family also includes filtered variants (J30JL) and glass-sealed options (J30JM / J30JM1) built on the same Micro-D platform. For the design rationale behind J30J as a MIL-DTL-83513 replacement, see our key design points for the J30J series.
RENHOTEC J30J Family
RENHOTEC supplies the full J30J range built to GJB2446A / MIL-DTL-83513 equivalent outlines, with non-magnetic, sealed, and filtered options available. Two series we recommend as starting points:
Standard J30J — the metal-shell general-purpose Micro-D for signal interconnect.
J30J Mixed-Current — 3 A signal + 20 A power in one shell, when your module needs power and signal together.
